Christmas Cards

I love pinterest, and I searched for christmas cards inspirations for several days. I have two step kids that live in Canada, and it's difficult to have a recent picture of the five of us when there in a different country.
While I searched pinterest for ideas, I came across this one card here. I totally loved it and decided that this would be our christmas card for 2012. I had my stepdaughter send me some photos that they did, and I put them together with the photos we took.

I think it turned out super cute.

Christmas Cards

Well,  our Christmas cards were finally mailed out today. I will post the picture as soon as some our family and friends have received it. I wouldn't want to spoil it for them. I had stack of Christmas card stock paper, so I decided to make the envelopes for the cards.

The last time I used patterned/glittered card stock as envelopes was when I mailed out our moving announcement cards. I had the worst luck with those things. Apparently, the postage didn't stick, and once the the recipient received the envelope hand delivered, the mail person asked them to pay for the postage.

 How EMBARRASSING!!!

So this time around, I made sure to tape down the postage. Hopefully I won't have any issues with them.  Here's some photos of the envelopes. The left over scraps will be turned into gift tags for the Christmas presents.

I just loved all the different patterns and glitter!!

Baby Shower Gift Idea!

When my sister found out she was pregnant, her sister in law wanted to do a dinner to congratulate the new parents to be. All the guests were encouraged to bring gifts that would help the couple during their pregnancy. Some guests brought baby guide books, others gave gift cards to a massage spa. I decided to ask the couple what their favorite snacks/cravings were. I put a little bag together with their choices. I also made a little "notebook" that the parents could put there monthly progress of ultrasound pictures, and the mom to be's progress of her belly growing. I started off the notebook with some pictures that I had taken prior. The front of the notebook had this cute little poem:

My precious little baby, I have loved you from the start.
You are a tiny miracle, laying closely in my heart.
Each day I feel your presence, each day you quickly grow.
Each day your heart beats softly, as only I could know. So  I’ll
keep this in a special place, and remember each year through,
Of this very special time of life, the months I carried you.

Moving Announcement

It's been 3 months since we've been living in Northern California, and so far I'm enjoying it.
Inspired by the movie UP, our moving announcement cards looked like this.

Mickey Mouse Train Party!

I love that now a days, if we cant find something were looking for, then we have the option in making it ourselves. My sister wanted to have a Mickey Mouse theme party for her son's first birthday. She then decided, that she was going to have the party at park, and they have a train there that the guests can ride.

So she asked me if I can do the party invites/decor that included Mickey and a train. I thought it would be easy to find inspiration, considering Mickey Mouse has been in all sorts of themes for parties.

To my surprise, I found very little inspiration. So I had to put my thinking hat on and came up with the invites and decor below. Luckily, a lot of the work was done on the computer, and I had my sister Alicia help me out putting the party together. I was leaving for Canada a week before the party, so she helped out a lot.

It was a bit windy, so some of our balloon decorations weren't staying, and stuff was flying all over the place, but overall, everything turned out great.

The invitation was a  TRI-Fold invite, with a customized envelope. I loved the way it turned out.

The back of the invite

We sewed three different colors of crepe streamers

This streamer only had the red and yellow crepe paper

We did some Tissue Pom Poms

My Stepson painted and put together the birthday boys name out of wooden letters.  We placed it under the sign, and guests were able to see as they walked into the party site

 Mickey Mouse Rice Krispy Pops

Mickey Mouse goodie bags, Mickey and Minnie headband ears that we made, and some photo props

My sister (birthday boy's mom), wanted to make his cake. Turned out super cute.

Customized labels

The idea for the Mickey and Train center pieces was cute. We painted the train and tracks to coordinate with the party colors. We added a little box to be as the "caboose", and the balloons were supposed to come out of there. With the wind being a little to strong, they didn't stay that way, but they still turned out cute

Here's a close picture after we painted them.

.
Here's what they looked like once on the table. You can also see the TRI color streamers on the right side.

My sister Alicia made this train to match the theme. Guests used it to take pictures

My Son Jacob

Here we are going for a train ride

Anytime we have a party, we all try to wear a shirt of the theme. My hubby is the silly one with the mickey balloons.
The birthday boy and his parents are the ones sitting on the grass.

Of course I had to show a picture of the birthday boy, Adorable right?

Happy 1st Birthday Matthew!! We love you!!

You've Been Booed!!

I am loving the weather right now, it's chilly, cloudy, and a little windy. It's perfect weather, especially since everyone is starting to get in to the Halloween mood. It's my first year doing the "You've Been Booed!!" gift. It's something cute to do, and I've noticed in my neighborhood that several houses have Halloween decorations up, so I decided to give it a go.  Here is the design I came up with. If your interested in using it, send me an email and I'll forward it to you with out the blog address on there.

It's a great idea to also have your kids do it for their friends, or to do it at work with your co-workers.

In my bag I placed a zip lock bag with some chocolate candy and a zip lock bag with some Halloween sugar cookies from Nestle. I wrapped them up in a spider web.

This is what was inside the goodie bag

I hope your doing something fun in your neighborhood!!

Times are Changing!!

I havent really been posting, which is something that I had promised to myself that I would do more often. Things around here are about to change!!

There has been some commotion around Casa De Sousa. We recently re located from Riverside County Ca to Contra Costa CA. We are finally settled in to our house. A great thing about the move is that my husband no longer is traveling weekly, every week for work, and another awesome thing is that I am now a stay at home mom. I get to spend all the time in the world with my son, and hope to create a business doing party invitations and decor.

I cant wait to see what's going to happen in this next chapter of our lives!!!

Dora the Explorer Safari Party

I had so much fun making these party invitations and decor. The invites had an ombre colored background, and to finish them off, I added some glitter!

These were party hats in the making, I had to include all of Dora's friends in the decor!

The birthday girl turned 3, and her cousins made her the cupcakes.

I customized some napkin rings, they were all with different characters.

Some chalkboard food signs inside a burlap/rock container added a cute touch.

A big Dora back drop and a table full of goodies for the guests. The table was also used for the birthday girl to open up her presents.

Each table had different safari animals, safari hats, cone hats as centerpieces, and items guests can take home.

Diego of course made it to the party!!

Birthday girl. I made her a shirt with the same Dora image on her invitation.
