Moving Announcement

It's been 3 months since we've been living in Northern California, and so far I'm enjoying it.
Inspired by the movie UP, our moving announcement cards looked like this.

Mickey Mouse Train Party!

I love that now a days, if we cant find something were looking for, then we have the option in making it ourselves. My sister wanted to have a Mickey Mouse theme party for her son's first birthday. She then decided, that she was going to have the party at park, and they have a train there that the guests can ride.

So she asked me if I can do the party invites/decor that included Mickey and a train. I thought it would be easy to find inspiration, considering Mickey Mouse has been in all sorts of themes for parties.

To my surprise, I found very little inspiration. So I had to put my thinking hat on and came up with the invites and decor below. Luckily, a lot of the work was done on the computer, and I had my sister Alicia help me out putting the party together. I was leaving for Canada a week before the party, so she helped out a lot.

It was a bit windy, so some of our balloon decorations weren't staying, and stuff was flying all over the place, but overall, everything turned out great.

The invitation was a  TRI-Fold invite, with a customized envelope. I loved the way it turned out.

The back of the invite

We sewed three different colors of crepe streamers

This streamer only had the red and yellow crepe paper

We did some Tissue Pom Poms

My Stepson painted and put together the birthday boys name out of wooden letters.  We placed it under the sign, and guests were able to see as they walked into the party site

 Mickey Mouse Rice Krispy Pops

Mickey Mouse goodie bags, Mickey and Minnie headband ears that we made, and some photo props

My sister (birthday boy's mom), wanted to make his cake. Turned out super cute.

Customized labels

The idea for the Mickey and Train center pieces was cute. We painted the train and tracks to coordinate with the party colors. We added a little box to be as the "caboose", and the balloons were supposed to come out of there. With the wind being a little to strong, they didn't stay that way, but they still turned out cute

Here's a close picture after we painted them.

.
Here's what they looked like once on the table. You can also see the TRI color streamers on the right side.

My sister Alicia made this train to match the theme. Guests used it to take pictures

My Son Jacob

Here we are going for a train ride

Anytime we have a party, we all try to wear a shirt of the theme. My hubby is the silly one with the mickey balloons.
The birthday boy and his parents are the ones sitting on the grass.

Of course I had to show a picture of the birthday boy, Adorable right?

Happy 1st Birthday Matthew!! We love you!!

You've Been Booed!!

I am loving the weather right now, it's chilly, cloudy, and a little windy. It's perfect weather, especially since everyone is starting to get in to the Halloween mood. It's my first year doing the "You've Been Booed!!" gift. It's something cute to do, and I've noticed in my neighborhood that several houses have Halloween decorations up, so I decided to give it a go.  Here is the design I came up with. If your interested in using it, send me an email and I'll forward it to you with out the blog address on there.

It's a great idea to also have your kids do it for their friends, or to do it at work with your co-workers.

In my bag I placed a zip lock bag with some chocolate candy and a zip lock bag with some Halloween sugar cookies from Nestle. I wrapped them up in a spider web.

This is what was inside the goodie bag

I hope your doing something fun in your neighborhood!!
